Mary is an eighth grader and, until recently, pretty popular at school. Lately, she started finding notes in her locker and in her backpack that were really upsetting. The notes were unsigned and mean. They said things like: “ We don’t like how you’re treading on our territory.” “ You act like a bitch.” And even, “ You better watch out because we’re watching you…”

Mary had no idea who might be sending the notes but she had an idea why. In the last few months she had started accepting invitations to high school parties. She had also fooled around with a couple of sophomore guys. She had a feeling that the notes were from some of the high school girls. She knew how gossip got around and how mean other people said the sophomore girls were.

What was she supposed to do? Almost every day this week she received a note. She felt angry, scared, and hurt. She showed the notes to two of her friends. One of them said that whoever is sending them was probably just jealous and she should just ignore them. The other friend said she should show them to a teacher.

Mary felt like there was no good choice. If she tried to ignore the notes she was afraid they would just continue, and she was not only scared, she was mad. She wanted them to stop. But if she turned in the notes, she was sure the whole school would find out and she would probably have to name names as to who she thought was sending them. If the gossip was bad now, wouldn’t’ it be worse then?

1.What do you think Mary should do?

Well, I think Mary should talk to a counciler and tell him/her that she has been getting mean notes.

2.Would you do the same thing?

I would do the same thing because I dont want to have this problem forever.

3.What do you think would happen to someone in your school who was in Mary’s situation? (I.e. would she get backlash for hooking up with older guys? Would people gossip about her?)

I think people would be gossiping about her.

4.How does gossip play a role in your school, in your community?

Well, in our school some people dont care because it isn’t true, but some peoples feelings hurt so they might go to the teacher and tell them.

5.Have you ever been in a situation similar to Mary’s? How was it resolved?

I didn’t really have any situation like Mary’s.

6.Why do you think people gossip? Have you ever gossiped about someone? Why do you think you did?

I think people might gossip because they might not like that person. I have gossiped a several times because I did not like this person because she was very mean.

Maria was worried about her good friend Pam. Pam was always talking about how fat she was and what she was trying to do about it. But the truth is that Pam was not at all fat. In fact, she was downright skinny. Since their freshmen year Pam had lost at least 15 pounds. Now, they were juniors and Maria was afraid that Pam had an eating disorder. Maria was also getting frustrated. Where were all the grown-ups? Who was watching out for Pam besides Maria and her friends?

Maria knew that someone from their school had talked to Pam’s parents last year, and that Pam’s mom had gotten angry about the school poking its nose into family business. Pam’s mom claimed that Pam had a dancer’s body and a high metabolism. That was last year. Now things were worse and Maria felt like she was literally watching her friend disappear.

Finally, one Monday afternoon Maria had had enough. As she watched Pam take three diet pills and eat four grapes for lunch she decided she had to do something. As helpless and scared as she felt now, how would it compare to how she would feel if Pam actually ended up in the hospital…or worse? Pam would be furious if she found out the Maria had talked to someone behind her back. So, Maria had two problems–should she tell someone how bad things were, and if so,whom should she go to?

1.Whom should she go to?
I think Maria should talk to a counciler and Maria should ask the counciler what she should do. I think if the counciler heard that I think the counciler would call Pam’s mom and talk to her. If it does not work I think Maria should try to talk to Pam and tell her that she might go to the hospital if she keeps this up. I think if Maria did that Pam will really know that her friends care about her.

2.Do you agree with Maria? Do you think she should tell someone about Pam?

Yes, I do agree with Maria because Pam might really be at the hospital because she hasn’t been eating properly.
3.If so, who do you think she should tell?

I think Maria should tell a counciler.
4.What do you think Maria should say if Pam asks her if she told someone?

I think Maria should say to Pam that she told someone because she cares about her.

5.Have you ever been in a position like this? What happened? Would you make the same choices if you were in that position again?

That never happened to me, but if I was in the same position and my friend didn’t eat properly I would go to a counciler and tell him/her.

Well, a leader should be a good leader that would care for their country and their people. A leader should know how to lead and a leader should be a good speaker. A leader should be a good speaker is because if he says something wrong people might think of the wrong thing. Well, the leader that inspires me is Martin Luther King because he was trying to make black and white people even.

Well, today in computer class we disappointed our computer, and he was furious because of what we did and he cares because he wants us to be good students. Well I feel bad even though I didn’t do anything but I am part of this class so I feel bad. I hope my computer teacher would forgive our classmate. I really feel bad because I do not want any of my teachers to be upset just because of our classmates. Well in computer class the teacher was talking to us that we should care about our classmates so yeah.

Animusic is a dvd and it has lot of songs and it is very nice to hear. I thought it was cool and this is very cool and I  think you should listen to it.
  

Well, in computer class I did a test so I know what kind of personality I am. I thought it was kind of interesting because I would get to know what kind of personality I have. Some of the things they said about me isn’t true, but some of the things they said were true. I think it was really fun doing this because my whole classmates did it to so yeah. One of my grade was 39 and I was the lowest one and I was kind of surprised. I hope I get to do this someday so I know what kind of personality I have and I could talk to my friends about mine and theirs so I know how different me and my friends are.

Should students be aloud to bring cell phones to school?

Yes, because when we finish school we could just call our parents if they forgot to pick us up. When our parents forget we have to go to after school, and our mom wont know where we are then our parents would get mad why we went to after school. So, I think it would be useful to have one just in case they forget then we dont have to go to after school. Well, another reason we should have a cell phone is because if there is a emergency then we could call our parents.

No, because we might loose our cellphone then we will get in trouble. Well, another reason is that sometimes at school if we use it during school we might get in trouble from the teacher using it during schooll then the teacher will take it. So, I think they shouldn’t bring because they might loose their cell phone or the teacher might take it away for using it during school.

Well im in computer class and I am blogging right now and yeah. After this class I can’t wait to go to study skills and I wonder if Mrs.Naz is going to ask us to unpack our bags. I wonder what our class is doing in study skills but oh well. Well im done with blogging now.

Well, my favorite class is study skills and in study skills Mrs.Naz told us to unpack everything in our bag. I was very surprised when she told us to and she checked some people’s stuffs and she said to throw the things that we dont need and some people did. After that she said tomorrow make sure that your bag is organized and bring it and I am going to check your bag. I thought that class was kind of fun.

Well, today in language arts class our class had to present our collage, and I was scared that she might tell me to present it but half of the class presented and half of the class is going to present next week. The next class was social studies and I dont really like that class, but I need to raise my grades up for that class and we had to choose which group we our going to sit in and I am sitting with my friends. The next class was p.e. and we did volleyball and it was fun because I was partnered up with Raine and she said I was good at volleyball and yeah. Well the next thing was break and I was glad because it was bake sale today so I bought snack. I thought I was going to be late for math because of bake sale but I wasn’t. Well that is all.
